As part of the design team for the Westbound Peak Period Shoulder Lane on I-70, Chinook developed a unique set of processes to collect 3D data of existing rockfaces with drones, convert this data for use by the geotechnical engineers, and then model proposed geohazard mitigation techniques. These proposed conditions models are then used for stakeholder engagement, visualization, and converted for analysis by the geotechnical engineers. These innovations reduce safety risks, improve contextual awareness for the entire design team, and are approximately 1/3-1/2 the cost of the traditional data collection methods.
