About Us
Chinook Landscape Architecture, LLC is a locally owned landscape architecture firm with a specialization in environmental restoration and reclamation projects. Founded in 2017 by Jon Altschuld, RLA, Chinook prides itself on working closely with clients to develop unique and creative solutions to complicated projects.
Through all of these projects, Chinook strives to create stronger connections between people and places, particularly environmentally important ones. We believe that we have a responsibility as landscape architects to create sustainable designs that allow future generations to continue to enjoy and experience the unique ecosystems and environments that our natural world has to offer.
Often, this involves working with emerging technologies such as 3D modeling and visualization, drones/UAV data collection, mobile GIS applications, and interactive website design. Chinook embraces these technologies and its founder, Jon Altschuld, regularly presents and teaches at universities, conferences, and trade shows.
Chinook is registered as an Emerging Small Business (ESB) with CDOT.
Jon D. Altschuld RLA, ASLA
As the founder and principal of Chinook Landscape Architecture, Jon Altschuld is experienced in the design of natural areas, trails and open spaces, river corridors, parks, streetscapes, and transportation planning. Over the course of his career, he has become an expert in ecological restoration projects.
In addition to ecological restoration, Jon has an expertise in emerging technologies such as 3D modeling and visualization, and the use of drones/UAVs for site data collection. Jon is a frequent presenter at industry events, conferences, and universities. His first published book, Drones in Professional Practice, will be available in early 2019.
Jon holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Landscape Horticulture, as well as a Master's of Landscape Architecture with a focus in landscape restoration and reclamation. In addition to being a registered Landscape Architect in the state of Colorado, he also holds an FAA Remote Pilot Certification.
